Recent developments in CO2 capture/storage/utilization with aromatic macrocycles

Aromatic units bring special features to supramolecular receptors when the challenge of binding and release CO2 is being addressed. Recent examples arising from calixarenes, pillararenes cyclophanes are discussed in this review. The abilities these systems spatially organize metal coordination, hydrogen bonding or hydrophobic interactions for purpose pointed out. Consequences sensing catalytic reactions also highlighted.
